We recommend you to rent a car for a day and visit Spain's highest mountain, Mount Teide, take part in the spectacular carnival or take the kids to one of Europe's finest zoos, Loro Parque. In Gran Canaria, there are an array of theme parks to visit, fantastic boat excursions and capital Las Palmas with a shopping range that beats most. In Lanzarote, you must visit the Timanfaya National Park which is worth witnessing. In Fuerteventura you can enjoy miles of beaches with golden sand and crystal clear water.
The Canarian cuisine is of course heavily influenced by Spanish cuisine. Beyond the busiest streets, you will find the restaurants Canarians themselves like to visit. Here are prices cheaper and the food tastes delicious. The range of tapas, seafood and international restaurants are almost limitless. The shopping is often the best in the islands' capitals like Las Palmas, Santa Cruz and Arrecife or in any large shopping center in the immediate vicinity of the destination.
